Abstract

Changes in opto-thermal and -mechanical properties of polyethylene terephthalate and glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate (4 wt% of ethylene glycol) subjected to c-irradiation at doses up to 30 Mrad and a dose rate of 138.8 rad/sec, were investigated by interferometry. Empirical formulae are suggested to correlate the opto-thermal and -mechanical properties of the c-irradiated fibers with the applied dose. Microinterferograms and relationships between the parameters obtained are given for illustration
