Abstract|ملخص البحث

This project is aimed at applying a mathematical programming approach to solve a real problem. The problem is the course assignment for professors and lectures at the Industrial Engineering Department, College of Engineering at King Khalid University. The department has 16 faculty members; a professor, two associate professors, four assistant professors, six lecturers, and two demonstrators. The department responsible for teaching 27 courses for industrial engineering students and one course for mechanical engineering students. The project uses the 0-1 mathematical programming techniques for modeling the assignment of courses to department members to maximize their preference. The optimization software package LINGO is used to solve the model. The result of using the mathematical model is an optimal timetable for the department.
