Abstract|ملخص البحث

A recent paper by M. Zaky & M. Metwaly (doi: 10.1109/TPEL.2016.2583660) is based on investigating the performance of 4-switch inverters driven by Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC). Also, the paper has a large section for investigating the motor parameters variation influence on Indirect Rotor Field Oriented Control (IRFOC) without proposing a tuning method. The IRFOC algorithm is mainly affected by rotor time constant and magnetizing inductance. However, neither rotor nor magnetizing inductances were investigated. Instead, the variation in stator resistance and load inertia - which have less effect on the orientation algorithm- are demonstrated. The FLC is simply used as speed controller, which is well addressed by most of the literature in this field. Finally, to validate the presented results in the commented paper, a typical system model is developed with similar used simulation platform and parameters. With identical tests, two main errors have been found. First, the reported speed which is in RPM should be in rad/sec. Second, the motor speed response to increasing inertia is opposite. The obtained results from the evaluation model confirm the claimed issues which impact the interpretation of commented paper results.
