Abstract|ملخص البحث

To evaluate the beneficial effect of fenugreek seeds on rats exposed to irradiation (6.5 Gy) on body weight and hematogenesis at the first and fourteenth day post irradiation. Forty-two healthy adult male Wister rats were divided into four groups: normal control, irradiated control, pre-treated irradiated group and pre and post-treated irradiated group. Body weight gain %, feed efficiency ratio and complete blood count were measured. The results showed that feeding rats on a diet supplemented with fenugreek seeds at a concentration of 5% before and after 14 days of irradiation exposure significantly improved biological evaluation and complete blood count. It can be concluded that the fenugreek seeds significantly induced reduction on body weight and blood content and it can be recommended to use fenugreek seeds before and after exposure to irradiation.
